Governments and international bodies aren’t equipped to handle this homeless crisis within the urgent time frame. Even if we cut the worst outcomes by 90%, we’d still face a refugee crisis 100 times the size of Syria’s in the 2010s. A partially nomadic world is emerging, yet we have no infrastructure plan for it.
We believe social entrepreneurs must step in. Our goal is to create a zero-down, sustainable housing solution—portable, self-sufficient, and able to generate food and water from the atmosphere without relying on the grid. These homes can exist on land or water, alone or in collectives.Over the next seven years, we aim to assemble experts for a 21st-century Manhattan Project for survival.
The good news? The technology already exists—it just needs better integration. We can 3D-print homes, extract clean water from air using sunlight, and grow food in even the harshest conditions. If we can 3D-print a 3,000-square-foot home embedded with this technology, we won’t just house the homeless—we’ll empower them to generate income and become net-positive contributors, even as refugees.
